Cathy graduated from Auckland University of Technology in 2000, with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Physiotherapy). Since graduating Cathy has gained experience in many areas of physiotherapy, initially working in the public health sector in New Zealand, then moving into private practice. Since making the move to Australia, she has stayed predominantly in private practice sector and gained many years of clinical experience.
Early in her career Cathy developed a special interest in the treatment and management of lymphedema and women’s health issues and has completed further post graduate certificates in both these specialised areas. Her special interests are the management and treatment of:
- Pelvic organ prolapse
- Bladder and bowel related issues, including incontinence
- Antenatal and postnatal issues – prenatal and postpartum
- Pelvic pain
- Secondary lymphedema
- General musculoskeletal injuries
Cathy is also trained in DMA Clinical Pilates rehabilitation – matwork and reformer exercises. She also runs small group classes and offers one-on-one rehabilitation.
Cathy enjoys improving a patient’s understanding of their injury/issue through education, whilst also providing hands on manual therapy. She encourages patients to take an active part in their rehabilitation and ongoing self-management.
Cathy is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, Australasian Lymphology Association, The Continence Foundation of Australia and the Women’s Health Training Association.
Having three children of her own, Cathy works part time and outside of work you will find her enjoying family life and running.
