What is Pilates?
Pilates is a unique form of exercise that conditions the whole body to transform the way your body looks, feels and performs. The focus is on learning how to recruit and control the body’s deep stabilising, postural or core muscles necessary to support the spine during normal daily activities, sport or work.
Pilates with a physiotherapist entitles you to claim your sessions under “group physiotherapy” with your private health fund. This is a great advantage to the people of the Bangor and Menai district. You can benefit from the immediate private health insurance refund using HICAPS.
Individually designed programs with a DMA Clinical Pilates trained physiotherapist to rehabilitate injuries and improve your mobility, stability and strength in a safe environment. All commencing patients attend a one-on-one Pilates assessment prior to commencing classes. The assessment process involves identifying the directions of movement that aggravate and alleviate your problem, and looking at your movement patterns. Classes are semi-private classes limited to 4 per class.
1:1 Clinical Pilates sessions are also available for those that would like to get a head start on their program.
PILATES MAT CLASSES
These physiotherapy instructed classes are designed to generally improve core stability, posture and balance. Exercises are modified to suit everyone despite injury or limitations.
Take your Pilates further with an effective reformer class, which offers you a whole body workout. This class is for participants without any current injury. The physiotherapist will then check your core activation to get the maximum benefit from you classes. Max 4 participants per class.
